New York, NY — Papercutz announced today that PAPERCUTZ SLICES #4: “The Hunger Pains,” its finest contribution yet to the children’s literature canon, is out just in time for fans of the Hunger Games movie who are suffering from sold-out screenings nationwide.

“As luck would have it,” said Papercutz Publisher Terry Nantier, “our unauthorized parody graphic novel is available in bookstores everywhere for fans who can’t get seats. Though not planned, and certainly not part of an overarching marketing strategy, this is the kind of community service Papercutz is famous for.” Nantier added that fans should “feel free” to pick up “The Hunger Pains” while waiting for the next showing at their local movie theaters, saying, “No, really; it’s no problem for us. We’re glad to help.”

In “The Hunger Pains,” the fourth volume in the multiple-award-submitted series PAPERCUTZ SLICES, it’s the Day of the Deleting and Ratkiss Everspleen volunteers to fight for Ditch 12 in an annual televised battle to the death. Her old friend Peeka Choo, giant blocks of gelatin, some highly evolved monkeys, and tin men with chainsaws are just a few of the obstacles that stand in her way on every page until the bitter end. The book is widely expected to sweep this year’s literary honors, provided the awards committees allow access to their respective broom closets. Continuing the high standards set by previous volumes such as “Harry Potty and the Deathly Boring” and “Percy Jerkson and the Ovolactovegetarians,” this entry promises an immersive, engaging, and educational read completely free of jokes about flatulence, spittle, or Gilligan’s Island.

“We can’t be more proud of this one,” said Papercutz Editor-In-Chief Jim Salicrup. “Every page is a rewarding experience, and with a big-budget film adaptation out this week it will find the wider audience it deserves.” When we tried to explain to Jim that the movie is based on the original book that PAPERCUTZ SLICES parodies, not the parody itself, he shuffled off down the street in a daze. If anyone has information on Jim’s whereabouts, please alert Papercutz immediately.

PAPERCUTZ SLICES #4: “The Hunger Pains” is written by Stefan Petrucha (NANCY DREW, TALES FROM THE CRYPT, Donald Duck) and illustrated by fan-favorite Rick Parker (TALES FROM THE CRYPT, Beavis & Butthead, The Pekar Project). PAPERCUTZ SLICES graphic novels – each 64 pages, full-color, and 6”x9” – are priced at $6.99 ($10.99 in hardcover) and are available at all major retailers, bookstores, comic book stores, and digitally on
