PAPERCUTZ THINKS COMICBOOK RETAILERS DESERVE A VACATION

Publisher’s CHIMA Contest Will Send Winner to LEGOLAND® San Diego

 

New York, NY – March 31, 2014 – Think your local comic book retailer deserves a break?

Kids’ graphic novel publisher PAPERCUTZ agrees with you. That’s why the company is looking to send one lucky retailer (and three companions) on a trip to LEGOLAND California Resort, the weekend before San Diego Comic-Con. The trip is the grand prize in a contest tied into the release of the company’s new LEGO LEGENDS OF CHIMA graphic novel series, which debuts this April.

The contest (first announced at the annual ComicsPRO meeting and featured in the March 10th issue of Diamond Daily) is open to any retailer who orders a set amount of CHIMA and LEGO NINJAGO graphic novels and hosts a launch event in their store. Retailers will send in pictures of their store’s event to finalize their entry into the contest.

PAPERCUTZ’s VP of Marketing, Sven Larsen, elaborated, “We know there are a lot of imaginative retailers out there who’ve made a place for allages comics in their stores. We want to encourage their creativity and really shine the spotlight on this exciting new title in the direct market. The only thing store owners need to be limited by are their imaginations. They can host LEGO building contests, costume contests, window displays, viewing parties or whatever else they come up with. I’m personally looking forward to seeing the great idea that none of us have thought of yet!”

The release of PAPERCUTZ’s first LEGO LEGENDS OF CHIMA graphic novel “High Risk!” is eagerly anticipated by fans and store owners alike. Industry magazine ICv2 noted the success of both LEGO-based graphic novels and the CHIMA toys in their latest issue and called the CHIMA graphic novel release “ … about as close [to a sure thing] as it gets.”

PAPERCUTZ President Terry Nantier also believes that the success of the company’s LEGO NINJAGO series bodes well for the new launch. “At his point we’ve sold over 2,000,000 copies of our NINJAGO titles”, he explained. “There’s a hungry audience out there for LEGO properties and comic shop owners have done a great job of servicing that need. We’re delighted to be able to thank them for their support, enlist their aid with the new series launch and offer a very special experience to a lucky retailer and his family.”
